The Gate 15:26

"Their slow-brewed collaboration is named for the small community in the Pennsylvania woods that brought the two together to forge the wind-worn drones of Chance, an album rooted in shoegaze, krautrock, and ambient — though it takes on its own lush, mysterious atmosphere. On the opener “The Gate,” Asselin and Fylstra’s heavily processed guitars hum and low, prowling inky depths with sweeps of cosmic energy. The saturation builds and builds, turning that calm ebb into an engulfing catharsis. The titles here (“The Breakdown of Language,” “Flight Nineteen”…) are all intriguingly cagey references to points-of-no-return — places in-between dream and waking life. Chance is an album of thunderstorms and ancient mists. This is the real deal: inner-space music with a hidden fire." - Matthew Sweeney //
